Vitafoods Europe 2025: nutraceuticals confirm their take-off
Just back from Barcelona, Anaïs Deleau shares her impressions of the 2025 edition of Vitafoods Europe, which again this year brought together the major players in the global nutraceutical industry in an atmosphere resolutely focused on innovation.
- The market has confirmed its momentum, with global sales of $182 billion in 2023, driven by the diversification of uses and the expansion of markets.
- The massive presence of delegations from Asia bears witness both to the high level of structuring of the dietary supplement markets in this region, and to the return to high levels of international mobility after years of health-related downturns.
- A fundamental trend: in addition to gummies and vitamin-enriched gummies, which are now well-established, exhibitors showcased powdered, granulated and liquid products, and even veterinary applications, to meet highly targeted needs. This development has been accompanied by extensive work on absorption, sensory experience and practicality.
- Collagen, in particular, remains a star ingredient. Its promise in terms of joint health, skin beauty and muscle recovery continues to seduce, with a profusion of formulations combined with other active ingredients: hyaluronic acid, vitamins, adaptogenic plants, etc.
But over and above product trends, the show also highlighted an industry that is changing fast and attracting a wide range of profiles, against a backdrop of fierce competition for key skills. Product development, marketing, regulation, supply chain, industrialisation: all professions are affected by this need for agility and adaptation, in a sector that is seeking to combine performance and responsibility.
