The job of wine tourism manager plays a key role in promoting wine culture and tourism in wine-producing regions.
As awine tourism professional, you’ll be responsible for highlighting the assets of a wine-growing region, offering tourist experiences based around wine and wine culture. You’ll be in direct contact with visitors, accompanying them as they discover the local wine heritage.
Main tasks of the Wine Tourism Manager
- Organize visits to wineries and cellars
- Host wine tastings and pass on knowledge about grape varieties, winemaking techniques, etc.
- Offer complementary activities such as oenology courses, vineyard walks or cooking and wine pairing workshops.
- Welcoming and accompanying visitors, answering their questions and providing personalized advice
- Promote the region’s wine products and cultural events
- Manage reservations and activity schedules
Skills required of a wine tourism manager
To excel as a wine tourism manager, you’ll need to master the following skills:
- Excellent knowledge of wines, grape varieties and tasting techniques
- Communication skills and the ability to express yourself clearly in front of an audience
- Sense of welcome and customer service
